Alfresco Pasta and Seeds of Success are both on vacation this week and will return next week!

Double Star Bar Farms is hosting a wonderful, family Spring Festival. Here is the flyer info. Contact Maura White, whitem4@hotmail.com, with any additional comments or questions:

April 30th is our SPRING FESTIVAL here at Double Star Bar Farms! Come visit the farm! Bring the family, listen to a couple of lectures, learn a couple things, hike, eat, listen to live music, and take a deep breath of fresh country air!! You can even bring your own camping gear and camp overnight!

Lectures include learning to inoculate logs to grow your own mushrooms, how to make your own mozzarella cheese, learn about herbs, and a fun lecture from the funny and expert egg lady!!

See what is growing. Ask questions about getting started farming. Tour the greenhouse. Walk among the beautiful peach trees. See how asparagus grows.

Even though International Homesteading Education Month, sponsored by Mother Earth News Magazine and Grit Magazine, is usually held in September, we decided to hold ours in the spring this year so that people could see what’s growing and what to be on the lookout for as we transition into summer.

Come out and visit and see what is growing!!

SweetPea has added a few more plant starts to the growing list.

Dogwood Valley has added a blackberry jam: “This jam is made from blackberries gathered on my own farm. It has been strained a bit, but still has most of the seeds for texture. Chemical-free, but not certified organic because of prohibitive charges associated with this certification. Ingredients are sugar, blackberries, and Sure-Jell.”

White City Produce has tomatoes! Frontier Family Farms continues to provide us with wonderful broccoli.

There are many listings to choose from for eggs, meat, milk, skin care, animal food and treats along with spring plantings.

Now the fun stuff! GIVEAWAY For each person ordering this week, you will be entered into a drawing for a $10 Stones River Market Gift Certificate for yourself AND one to give to someone else who is not a current customer!
Good luck!

Have a beautiful day market family and we will see you Wednesday!

IMPORTANT NEWS

Remember this Thursday (April 7) is the big fundraising day—Arkansas Gives! From 8 AM to 8 PM on Thursday Arkansans can give to their favorite non-profits. ALFN is on the list again for this year, and we are excited and thankful for the promotion ArkansasGives provides to statewide organizations. During this one-day event, each donation you give will help your favorite nonprofit organizations qualify for additional bonus dollars from Arkansas Community Foundation. All participating nonprofits will receive a portion of a pool of bonus dollars provided by Arkansas Community Foundation; the more a nonprofit raises, the more of the bonus dollars it will receive. To give on Thursday, please go to our page on the Arkansas Gives website: ALFN

ALFN GEAR

Also, it is time for me to purchase more ALFN paraphernalia to replenish our stock. I’m always wanting to catch the pulse of our members so that ALFN moves in sync with our members. I’m looking to purchase ALFN shirts, totes and aprons. Would you mind spending 1 minute to help me gauge interest? Check out this new survey medium…it’s fun. Take ALFN Gear Survey

Champaign, OH:  Here Comes The Sun!

I know that it feels like we have taken a step back with the chilly winds and temperatures, today, but we do have some solid sunshine, outside!! And, it’s April!!

My favorite time of the year because it means we really have come through another winter, we begin seeing regrowth, sunshine, green, we feel our bodies and souls rejoicing in the warmth.

April is also my birthday month!! Yay!! And, it’s also so fitting that it’s my favorite time of the year because I begin touching base with our growers, gathering estimated times that they will be back on the market, how their growing season is progressing, how they have been since we last saw them, and getting all excited that we are only weeks away from adding them all back, little by little.

Swisher Hill Herbs did that for me with this market!! Charlene took a tour of one of her greenhouses and saw a few plants that were ready, so she is making us all happy by adding them to the market!! They will go fast, they are the first of the live plants, and you need to get your orders in, pronto!

It’s a perfect Saturday morning for market orders…

Have a great day!! Fill it with sunshine and love…

Peace, Love, Good Vibes…
Cosmic Pam
